Conference offers opportunities to women

After its successful debut last year the Women Mentoring Women Conference will return to Sacramento State from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 24 in the University Union Ballroom. “Women Mentoring Women: Women Leading the Way” will connect female Sacramento State students with female leaders in the community.

The high-profile event will feature more than 70 influential women from the greater Sacramento region who will mentor students in a wide range of fields. The mentors include California legislators, attorneys, marketing professionals, educators and more.

Last year the conference matched more than 40 female mentors with 85 students for a day of discussion and workshops on career development and leadership skills. The event attracted a diverse group of women and this year, the event is expected to be bigger and better than ever.

Sacramento State communications professor Barbara O’Connor, a nationally recognized expert in political communications, will give the keynote address at 9:30 a.m. O’Connor served eight years as chair of the California Education Technology Committee and is also serving for the ninth year as the elected chair of the Alliance for Public Technology, a Washington, D.C. non-profit organization.

Sacramento State students are encouraged to register early, as seating is limited. Register online at www.csus.edu/wrc/wmw.
