Gonzalez meets with union representatives
Sacramento State President Alexander Gonzalez met with representatives from employee union bargaining units Thursday and provided an update on the campus budget.
President Gonzalez, Vice President for Human Resources David Wagner, and Associate Vice President for Human Resource Kent Porter also answered questions from the representatives.
A video of the full meeting is posted on Sacramento State’s Budget Central page at www.csus.edu/pa/budget/.
The University and the CSU system have been forced to deal with unprecedented cuts in state funding. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s budget proposal in January would restore $305 million to the CSU, and University officials are working to preserve that commitment in the final budget.
President Gonzalez and members of the University Budget Advisory Committee are also preparing for a worst-case scenario, in which state funding is identical to the current year’s budget.
“I think the real issue is going to be how we maintain a level of access and quality for the academic programs without decimating” other units, Gonzalez said at Thursday’s meeting.
Representatives from the APC, CFA, CSUEU and SETC were present at the meeting.
