Accommodating students with disabilities

In order to comply with federal and state laws, Sacramento State provides appropriate academic accommodations for students with disabilities. To achieve that goal the Office of the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs has announced that all faculty are to provide the following instructional materials and modes for students:

Text books

  • Include a reading list in your syllabus
  • Order all textbooks and other course materials in a timely manner so that equal quality is available, no later than April 1 for both summer 2006 and fall 2006 semesters. Oct. 14, 2006 is the due date of orders for spring 2007.
  • Whenever possible choose textbooks that also have an electronic text CD available.

Videos and Films

  • Include videos and films that you will be showing in your syllabus.
  • Order captioned videos and films for all courses, including distance education and multimedia web-based classes. Captioning resources and a listing of captioned media are available at www.cfv.org

Other Related Instructional Materials Independently Copied by Hand

  • If the instructional material is photocopied, it must be clear and crisp, for scanning purposes, and abide by the copyright laws required for duplication. Copyright laws do not allow "academic freedom" for this purpose.
