Flood
preparedness meeting
Sacramento area flood preparedness will be the topic of a
community outreach meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday,
March 6, in the University Union Ballroom. Faculty, staff
and students are invited to participate. The last 30
minutes of the meeting will be reserved for Q and A.
The meeting is one in a series of meetings the City of Sacramento
and the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency have held throughout
the area to inform residents, and those who come into the
city to work, about flood dangers, the structure of the levees,
and how to prepare themselves for the eventuality of flooding
in the Sacramento area.
Sacramento State lies within the area designated as the secondary
flood plain for the American River. Questions to be addressed
include: Is the campus flood ready? Are the levees designed
to give 100-year or 200-year flood protection and what does
100-year protection mean? How would the campus be notified
if flooding were imminent?

Health and Safety, at 278-7233.
