Maria Jaoudi, Humanities and Religious Studies, gave a presentation for the Crocker Museum's exhibition “Buddha,” investigating how the spiritual dimensions, concerns, and values of Buddhism have been captured on film. She introduced and led a discussion for the Crocker Cinematique on Feb. 19 on Bernardo Bertolluci's film, Little Buddha.

Jeremy Garrett, Philosophy, presented a paper titled, “A Prima Facie Case against Civil Marriage,” on the main program of the 2009 American Philosophical Association Central Division meeting held in Chicago, Ill., Feb. 18-21. A longer version of the paper, “Marriage Unhitched from the State: A Defense,” will be published in the April 2009 issue of Public Affairs Quarterly.
