The New Style Motherlode
Dance Company will bring its eclectic mix of dance styles
to Sacramento State March 9 to 12 as part of the American
College Dance Festival on campus. Performances will be at
8 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 9, 10 and 11
and 2 p.m., Sunday, March 12, in Solano Hall 1010.
The Oakland-based troupe’s visit is one of a variety
of art, music, theater and dance events during the University’s
14th annual Festival of the Arts, March 2-12.
New Style Motherlode directors Corey Action
and Teela Shine Ross created the company in 1997 to fuse hip-hop,
jazz, ballet, modern and theatrical themes. The culturally
diverse dance group was designed to promote self-expression,
cultural relativity, training and education through dance.
The event is sponsored by Sacramento State’s
Department of Theatre and Dance and S/BAD, Sacramento Black
Art of Dance.
Tickets are $18 general, $15 for students
and seniors, and $12 for children and are available at the
Sacramento State Ticket Office at 278-4323 or at Tickets.com.
