Campus risk for flooding topic of forum

A meeting to help the campus community prepare for emergencies, particularly floods, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, March 6 in the University Union Ballroom.

The event is the latest in a series of meetings the City of Sacramento has held throughout the area to inform the community about disaster preparedness. Sacramento State President Alexander Gonzalez, Sacramento Mayor Heather Fargo and representatives from the Sacramento Police and Fire Departments and the Department of Utilities will take part in the discussion.

Sacramento State is bordered by a levee and lies within the area designated as the secondary flood plain for the American River. The meeting will provide those who live, work and attend classes at the University information on flood dangers, the structure of the levees, and how to prepare themselves. The last 30 minutes of the program will devoted to audience questions.
