The Sacramento Chapter of American Women in Radio and Television is accepting student entries for the sixth annual Good News Awards Scholarship Program.
“It’s a great opportunity for students to use grant money to further their education,” says Jennifer Goto, SAWRT president. “It also gives them an opportunity to take the skills that they’re learning in school and use them in a real work situation via a video package or an audio report.”
Sponsored by Pacific Gas and Electric, two $2,500 awards will be granted to students with the best audio or video “good news” story. The money will go directly to offset education costs such as tuition, books and lab fees.
The entry deadline is March 20. Submitted stories must be based on a real-life situation or event and should focus on the triumph of the human spirit.
Winners will be honored at the Good News Awards luncheon on May 20 at the Arden Hills Resort and Spa in Sacramento.
