Pang Moua,
Biological Sciences, won first place in the 21st Annual Student Research Local
Competition hosted by the Office of Research Administration on March 5. Her
topic was “The Effects of Datisica Glomerata on Two Breast Cancer Cell
Lines, MDA-MB 231 and BT-474."

Dante
and Dominic Morris took first and second place in the Men's
62kg class at the Pacific Weightlifting Association Championships on Feb. 11
in San Francisco. John Redito took fifth place and club president
and assistant coach Fernando Rodriquez took sixth place in
the 85kg class. Head coach and graduate student Kathy Redcher-Bowling
won the women's 69kgs class. Ben Claridad recently took second
place in the 105kgs class at the Sacramento High Junior Open. He will be representing
Sacramento State in the Collegiate National Championships in Reno, April 14
- 15.

The Chinese in California's Heartland on March 10 at the Guild Gallery,
sponsored by the Asian American Studies Program and the Office of Community
Collaboration.
Laurel
Zucker, Music, gave a concert/lecture for the 2007 San Francisco College
Music Society Conference on "Premieres for Solo Flute from the Baroque
Era to the Present" on March 3 at San Francisco State University.
Celeste
Roseberry-McKibbin, Speech Pathology and Audiology, was invited to
give the following presentations: "Nonbiased assessment of and pre-referral
intervention strategies for ELL students with potential language disorders"
at the October meeting of the Special School District of St. Louis County, St.
Louis; "Language therapy with bilingual students: Practical strategies
and materials," at the August meeting of the San Francisco Unified School
District and "Practical strategies for intervention with ELL students with
language-learning disabilities," in June at the University of the Pacific
Summer Colloquium series.
Mary Mackey,
English, delivered the following lectures: "Poetry Contests, Honors, and
Prizes: Winning Your Way to Publication," at the San Francisco Writers
Conference; "The Art of Film Adaptation," at the Capital Film Arts
Alliance; and "Combining Romance with Comedy, History, and Other Genres,"
at the Silicon Valley Romance Writers Conference. She also read poetry from
her new collection, Breaking the Fever, at the Nevada County Poetry
Series and read selections from her new novel, The Notorious Mrs. Winston,
at St. Mary's College, Moraga.
