Scholarship

Cindy Schorzman, M.D., staff physician at Student Health Services, has authored a chapter in the American Academy of Pediatrics Textbook of Pediatric Care. The chapter is entitled, “Gay and Lesbian-parented Families.”

This is the first time the text has included a chapter on this topic.

Gloria Solomon, Kinesiology and Heath Science, gave a keynote address at the 2009 California Sport and Exercise Psychology Symposium held Feb. 27-28, at Fresno State. Titled “The Case of Positive Sport Psychology,” Solomon’s talk linked a relatively young and rapidly growing area of psychology, “positive psychology,” to the research and practice of sport and exercise psychology.

Recognition

Ten staff and family members from the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics volunteered to answer phones for KVIE on Friday, March 6. The group worked the phone bank from 8:15 p.m. until just after 11 p.m. Donations during this time totaled $9,510.

Jeff Lustig, Government, had an op-ed essay in the Feb. 22 San Francisco Chronicle, “Reinventing California: Constitution Must Match Our Needs,” about the current move for a new constitutional convention in California.

Denver AM radio station KEZW.com interviewed Robert E. Humphrey, Communication Studies, about his book, Once Upon A Time In War: The 99th Division in World War II. The interview can be heard on the station’s podcast.
