Alumni Month brings spring cheer with crowd-pleasing activities
April is Alumni Month at Sacramento State, and whether your preferences are a night with the River Cats or a night at the theater—or gourmet food and wine in the Alumni Center or picnic fare on the Capitol Lawn—the University has an event for you.
The third annual “Sac State Night” at the River Cats game will kick off at 7:05 p.m., Tuesday, April 10 at Raley Field. Students and alumni are invited to wear their Sacramento State gear to watch the River Cats host the Portland Beavers. University students and alumni will be featured in the throwing out of the first pitch. Tickets range from $6-15 and are available to alumni at www.csus.edu/rivercats. General admission tickets are available at www.rivercats.com.
Alumni Association members who are sports fans will have another treat—all Sunday sporting events are free. Admission will be waived for members who show their Alumni Association membership card at the door. Sporting event schedules can be found at www.hornetsports.com/schedules.
Outstanding alumni will be honored at the Distinguished Service Awards reception and dinner at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 12 in the Alumni Center. A total of 12 distinguished alums will be honored at the event, including Roger Valine, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. University alumnus Kitty O’Neal of KFBK will serve as emcee and alumni musicians Steve Homan and Aaron Garner will provide entertainment. Tickets are $100 per person. Tables of 8 are $800, $700 for faculty and staff. RSVP to Linda Scott, Alumni Relations, at 278-4899.
The Alumni Association will present Golden Memories: 50 Years in the Making at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, April 13 and 14, at the University Theatre in Shasta Hall. The performance, a celebration of the Department of Theatre and Dance’s 50th anniversary, will be a theatrical and musical review featuring alumni, Sacramento Black Art of Dance, Sons and Ancestor Players, Richard Bay puppetry and Sacramento State students. Tickets are $20 and are available by calling 278-4323 or visiting Tickets.com.
The Board of Directors of the Alumni Association will hold a reception in honor of Alumni Association members from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 19 in the Alumni Center. The event is free to Alumni Association members.

The Sac State community is invited to spend an evening with Broadway and silver screen star Carol Channing in “A Salute to the Arts” at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 27 in the University Theatre.
