LATEST
ADDITIONS--Seven new concrete picnic benches
have been installed by Facilities Services along a walkway
near the One Card Center, just in time for spring. They
replaced wooden benches that needed to be replaced because
of the growth of tree roots around them.

Union marks 30 years as the campus gathering place
It’s a home away from home for the campus community, a
place to grab something to eat, cram for an exam, see a show
or even take a nap. The University Union is celebrating its
30th year as the hub of campus life at Sacramento State this
month.

Bicycling
is a great way to commute to the campus and get
exercise at the same time. Sacramento State has
a free bicycle parking compound at the foot of
the Guy West Bridge. It is staffed by University
Transportation and parking Services student assistants
from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Thursday
and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays during the academic
year. Additional bicycle racks are located throughout
campus. Bicycle lockers are also available for
rent for $50 per semester through ASI Peak Adventures
at 278-6321.
To
make the bike commute easier, Hornet Express shuttles
and Sacramento Regional Transit buses are equipped
with bicycle racks. Commuters can also arrange
to ride with a “bike buddy” by visiting
www.1800commute.org
for a bicycle buddy match list.
For more information on bicycling on campus, contact
Alfredo Orozco at orozcoa@csus.edu
or 278-7527. For more information on bicycling
off campus visit www.sacramento-tma.org
or call 441-7074.

Month Profile: Ken Barnett
It
could be considered the police equivalent of working
your way up from the mail room to CEO, but there’s
more to Ken Barnett’s rise from student police
dispatcher to Sacramento State's chief of police than
just climbing the ladder.
