Foreign
language students from all over the Sacramento region will celebrate the world’s
languages and cultures during the fourth annual World Language Day from 9 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, April 29 at Sacramento State.
The event offers
a culturally-rich day of workshops, presentations, food, dancing, sports, foreign
films, job information and more. Participants can try their hand at such activities
as Japanese swordsmanship, French folk dancing, Taiko drumming or watch high
school and college students perform skits and read poetry in an assortment of
languages.
World Language
Day is hosted by Sacramento State’s Foreign Languages Department to promote
foreign language proficiency, support language teachers and give language students
the opportunity to demonstrate their skills.
Parking, workshops and activities are free and open to the public and will take
place in Mariposa Hall, Eureka Hall and outside on the Library Quad.
The event’s
organizers are still seeking entertainers, presenters or vendors to participate
in the event. Members of the community, cultural groups, clubs and high school
or college students are encouraged to participate. The last day to register
online as a presenter or entertainer is April 2.
