WASC is the regional higher education association that, through its Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities, is responsible for the accreditation of several higher education institutions in the Western United States. Accreditation is used to define and evaluate the quality of an institution’s programs. Only accredited institutions are eligible to receive federal funding including financial aid and grants.
Sacramento State is now in the final Educational Effectiveness phase of its current reaccreditation cycle which began with the institutional proposal in 2005 followed by the Capacity and Preparatory Review in 2007.
