A student researching the habitats of fish won the 23rd Sacramento State Student Research competition March 7.
Anthony Barley, a biological sciences student, received a $200 prize for his research titled, “Habitat structure directly affects aggression in convict cichlids, Archocentrus nigrofasciatus.” His study investigated how a fish’s habitat structure affects the amount of aggressive behavior it exhibits.
The competition was hosted by the Office of Research Administration. Fourteen students from various disciplines competed. Six, including Barley, will compete at the statewide event May 1-2 at CSU, Los Angeles. Competing will be Barley; Jim Alford, biological sciences; Paul Anthony Dickey, business administration; Carrie Lessin, biological sciences; Renée Romero Lyons, education; Jennifer Marie Rossiter, biological sciences.
