Outstanding teaching, service honored at annual event
Sacramento State has announced the 2006-07 Outstanding Teaching, Community Service and University Service Award recipients. They will be honored at a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1 in the University Union Ballroom III.
The Outstanding Teaching Awards program is designed to recognize excellence in teaching. This year’s recipients are:
College of Arts and Letters: Kimo Ah Yun, Communication Studies
College of Business Administration: Chris Sablynski, Business Administration
College of Education: Kristin Alexander, Child Development
College of Engineering and Computer Science: John Clevenger, Computer Science
College of Health and Human Services: Brad Stockert, Physical Therapy
College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics: Susanne Lindgren, Biological Sciences
College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies: George Parrott, Psychology
Library: Betty Ronayne
The Outstanding Community Service Awards program recognizes faculty who apply their knowledge and skills in addressing community needs that enhances the public good rather than for personal income or corporate profit. The recipients are:
College of Arts and Letters: Shirley Moore, History
College of Education: Theresa Roberts, Child Development
College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics: Ruth Ballard, Biological Sciences
College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies: Greg Mark, Ethnic Studies
The Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Service recognizes extraordinary commitment over the long term and a legacy of significant, enduring contributions to the community at-large for a decade or more. This year’s recipient is Barbara O’Connor, Communication Studies, from the College of Arts and Letters.
The Outstanding University Service Awards program recognizes the importance of faculty service through leadership and involvement at the University. This year’s recipients are:
College of Arts and Letters: Richard Cionco, Music
College of Business Administration: Craig Kelley, Business Administration
College of Education: Karen Davis O’Hara, Child Development
College of Engineering and Computer Science: Anne-Louise Radimsky, Computer Science
College of Health and Human Services: Anthony Sheppard, Recreation and Leisure Studies
College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics: Mary Ann Reihman, Biological Sciences
College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies: Mark Siegler, Economics
The recipients will be recognized at the May 1 event and presented with a personal plaque. They will also be acknowledged on plaques displayed in the office of the dean of each College.
