Academic Talent Search looking for students
Applications are being accepted for the 28th annual Academic Talent Search at Sacramento State. The summertime program provides an opportunity for students in grades 4-9 to accelerate their learning in traditional topics and experience enrichment opportunities in subject areas not always available in regular schools.
Application deadline is 4 p.m., April 27. Parents can save $10 on the application fee by applying by 4 p.m., April 20. More than 2,000 students from more than 400 schools are expected to attend ATS summer courses this year.
ATS provides more than 100 fun and exciting classes in popular subjects like art, engineering, English, languages, learning skills, math and science on campus June 15–Aug. 7. The program is normally open to sixth-ninth graders, but a new program for a fourth and fifith graders willl be offered this year.
Students who wish to apply for ATS must have taken the ATS Qualifying Exam prior to applying to the program. Parents should contact the ATS office at (916)-278-7032 before the April 27 deadline if interested in testing opportunities
ATS is a non-profit, self-supporting organization sponsored by the College of Education. It has served more than 31,500 students since 1982.
ATS’s diverse faculty includes award-winning Sacramento State mechanical engineering instructor Estelle Eke and accomplished local artist Marsha Schindler, who was commissioned to create a mural in the governor’s office.
