Ali Porbaha’s geoconstruction research earns President’s Award
Innovative technologies for ground modification and earthquake mitigation have been developed overseas for new construction or reconstruction of aging civil infrastructure systems. These technologies should be further developed and transferred for use in the United States, according to Civil Engineering professor Ali Porbaha. Porbaha is the 2006-07 recipient of the President’s Award for Research and Creative Activity.

Omicron Chapter’s 20th anniversary a celebration of an honorable history
Sacramento State has many reasons to feel honored as it marks the 20th anniversary of Omicron, the University’s chapter of Phi Beta Delta, the honor society for international scholars. Phi Beta Delta is the nation’s first honor society dedicated to recognizing individuals who have demonstrated scholarly achievement in the areas of international education and exchange.

During the month of April, sexual assault awareness and prevention is examined throughout the United States. Sacramento State is doing its part to increase this awareness through a number of events on campus.

Athletics program receives full NCAA certification
The NCAA Division I Committee on Athletics Certification announced that Sacramento State has successfully completed the Associations’ second cycle of athletics certification.

Featured Event-Multicultural Night 4
Multicultural Night 4, a free annual event, will feature spoken word, fraternity/sorority stepping, poetry, comedy and cultural dancing. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 26 in the University Ballroom. Sponsors for the event include UNIQUE, Epsilon Sigma Rho, the Multicultural Center and Associated Students, Inc.

Men’s basketball signs college of the Siskiyous big man Justin Eller
The Sacramento State men’s basketball squad announced its first signee of the 2007-08 recruiting class with the inking of 6-8, 240-pound forward/center Justin Eller of the College of the Siskiyous, it was announced by Hornets’ head coach Jerome Jenkins. Eller will enroll as a sophomore at Sacramento State in the fall, and will have three years of eligibility with the Hornets.
