Sacramento State will celebrate Earth Day on campus with a series of events in the Library Quad from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 22.
Sponsors will offer a rock-climbing wall, door prizes including three Peak Adventure trips and a bicycle, trees from SMUD and live music from student-run radio station KSSU. Tote bags, organic fruit and water bottles will be available to the first 500 students at the event.
Guest speaker Don Lotter will be in the Orchard Suite of the University Union at 6 p.m. to discuss genetically modified foods. Don Lotter will be in Eureka Hall 107 at 7 p.m. for a screening and discussion of the movie River of Renewal: Myth and Historyof the Klamath Basin.
“This event may only take place one day a year, but it is important for us to remember that we need to nurture our planet every day,” says Kathryn Kay, Associated Students vice president of Academic Affairs.
The celebration is a collaboration of ASI, the Art Department, Environmental Student Association, Field Biology Group, the Recycling Committee, KSSU and the Natural Foods Co-op.
