Barbara Carle, Foreign Languages, published an essay, "The Lexicon of Costellazione anonima: a paradigmatic poem," in the book Alfredo de Palchi, La Potenza della poesia, Edizioni dell'Orso, Alessandria, (Italy) 2008, pp.51-57. In New York City she gave a presentation and a poetry reading ("Don't Waste My Beauty: Translating with Antonella Anedda") at "The Cruelest Month Italian Poetry and American Poetry in New York" Conference.

Linda Goff, Library, presented, "InfoLit Global: Building a Directory, Sharing Ideas and Resources," at the California Academic and Research Libraries conference in Irvine, California, April 2-5. The session highlighted the work done on a UNESCO-funded project which created a web-based international directory of resources on Information Literacy. Goff also co-presented, "Understanding our First Years; Three studies and a comparison," with colleagues from CSU San Marcos and Sonoma State. The presentation explored the results of the "Project Baseline" grant to establish a baseline measurement of the information competence skills of freshman seminar students, using the ETS iSkills assessment instrument. She was also profiled in the March 2008 American Library Association/Library Instruction Round Table newsletter.

Robin Datel, Geography, co-authored a chapter, "Immigrant Space and Place in Suburban Sacramento," in Twenty-First Century Gateways: Immigrant Incorporation in Suburban America, recently published by Brookings Institution Press. This work was featured on the front page of the March 2 Sacramento Bee. Datel also recently served as a technical consultant to the Sacramento Superior Court in the development of a video and website on Ukrainians and Russians in the Sacramento region.
