Sacramento State hosts green sustainability conference
Sacramento State’s College of Continuing Education will host the California Sustainability Mayday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, in the Sacramento State Alumni Center.
The Mayday event is designed to provide professionals involved in facilities and operations activities, such as facilities management, supply chain management and green business operations, with tools and strategies for assessing and implementing sustainable business operations within their organizations.
The event will include workshops and discussions on a variety of sustainability topics including green cleaning, landscaping and irrigation, carbon cap and trade, California-specific energy rebates and understanding energy star scores.
“This is a natural fit for the college because our programs help educate and serve the Sacramento Region,” says Tonii Ramirez, senior program coordinator with CCE. “Many local businesses are becoming more conscious of their carbon footprint and this was a perfect opportunity to collaborate with the other co-sponsors and promote our green business operations expertise”
The event is sponsored by the College of Continuing Education, the International Facility Management Association, Corporate Care and RetroCom Energy Strategies.
More than 40 industry professionals will participate in the event, and about 100 people are expected to attend.
“This seminar is a rare opportunity for people in the industry to learn from facilities professionals who have proven that sustainable business operation is the most effective business operation,” says Ramirez.
The cost is $25 for Sacramento State students and $75 for non students. To register, visit www.californiamayday.com/.
