Scholarship

Kazue Masuyama, Foreign Languages, was invited to a forum on Integrative Curriculum and Program Development: Bridging Japanese Language and Japanese Studies in Higher Education, at the DePaul Center, in Chicago. She also presented an online pedagogy course, “JOINT The Basics” at the Association of Teachers of Japanese JOINT Task force meeting at the Chicago Consulate-General's office in March.

Bill Leach, Public Policy and Administration and Center for Collaborative Policy, co-authored a presentation on “Telemedicine Reimbursement Trends and Barriers” for the American Telemedicine Association conference in Las Vegas, April 27.

Caio Miguel, Psychology, presented the invited address “Using Naming and Stimulus Equivalence to Develop Novel Behavior in Children” at the Florida State University campus in Panama City on April 16.

Jana Noel, Teacher Education and Community Engagement Center, presented three papers at the American Educational Research Association in San Diego. Her papers were titled “An Autoethnography of Privilege, Race, and Class in a Professor’s Relationship with an Urban Community,” “Striving for Authenticity in Urban Teacher Education: Moving into Schools and Communities,” and “Creating Opportunities for Research through a Focus on Community Engagement.”

Student Spotlight

Jared Coon, Psychology, was awarded the 2009 B.F. Skinner Foundation Scholarship for Graduate Student Research for a project entitled, “The Role of Increased Exposure to Transfer of Stimulus Control Procedures on the Acquisition of Intraverbal Behavior” supervised by Caio Miguel.
