Awards recognize outstanding seniors
Seven outstanding Sacramento State graduating seniors—one
from each college—were honored with the Dean’s Award
during a dinner May 4. One of the recipients will be honored
by President Alexander Gonzalez with the President’s Medallion
during commencement ceremonies on May 19 and 20.

Lascher to give President's
Award lecture
It has been a typically busy semester for Professor Ted Lascher.
In the past several months he has turned out research papers
for journals on subjects such as macropartisanship in California,
ideological trends in the state, and incumbents and their constituencies.
And another is on the way looking at compensation for victims
of terrorism.

engineering dean named
Emir Jose Macari has been named dean of the College of Engineering
and Computer Science at Sacramento State. The appointment is
effective Aug. 1.

program headed for successful start
Sacramento State’s new honors program seems to have struck
a chord with potential students. More than 100 students have
applied to the program which begins in the fall, says interim
director George Craft.

Rowing
posts fastest time in school history, wins fourth championship
Sacramento State's women’s varsity eight posted a
school-record time of 6:35.9 over 2,000 meters to claim
its fourth Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA)
championship Sunday afternoon at Lake Natoma.
