Lindy Valdez, Liberal Studies/Kinesiology and Health Science, was awarded the 2008-2009 Outstanding Faculty Advisor award for California from the Student California Teacher Association (SCTA), April 25, in Los Angeles. The Sacramento State student SCTA chapter on campus was also awarded outstanding student chapter in the state.
Roger Sullivan, Anthropology, co-authored a poster presented at the annual International Meeting for Autism Research in Chicago.
Ron Coleman, Biological Sciences, gave an invited talk in the Program in Science Learning series at Rutgers University entitled, “How to Use Case Studies to Teach Concepts of Evolution” on March 31.
Marie Torregrosa, Faculty Student Mentor Program, presented on, “The Evolution of the Mentoring Framework and the Faculty Student Mentor Program’s Practices at CSU, Sacramento,” at the International Mentoring Association Conference.
Adriana Echandia, College of Education, and Bridget Parsh, College of Health and Human Services, Faculty Student Mentor Program, co-presented on “Working with Students to Help Students: Overcoming Obstacles” at the International Mentoring Association Conference.
Student spotlight
Angelo A. Williams, Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, presented at the 2009 American Education Research Association Conference as symposium chairperson for the discussion, “Examining the Conditions of Latina and Latino High School Students Within a Multicultural/Multiethnic Context.” He also has been appointed interim dean of Enrollment Management and Student Services at Cosumnes River College in the Los Rios Community College District.
