Frederick Teichert to receive honorary degree

Sacramento philanthropist Frederick Teichert will receive the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters by the Board of Trustees of the California State University and Sacramento State at the College of Arts and Letters commencement noon, Friday, May 22.
Teichert, 60, who received an MBA at Sacramento State in 1994, is a member of the board of directors of Teichert Inc., a major construction and materials company in Sacramento, and is the executive director of the Teichert Foundation, which awards grants to numerous charities and organizations.
Founded in 1887, the Teichert company now includes Teichert Construction, a general contractor that builds major projects such as roads, freeways, commercial and industrial site work, parks and airports. The firm’s Teichert Materials is one of the largest construction materials producers in the nation.
Teichert is a member of The University Foundation at Sacramento State Board of Directors and the President’s Circle. He is also president of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation and a member of the People Reaching Out Advisory Board, the Wells Fargo Bank Community Advisory Board, the Marguerite Home Foundation Board and the Policy Board to End Homelessness.
Teichert has received many community honors and awards in his lifetime, including the Sacramento State Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award in 2002.
