facing tough parking situation
With
construction of Parking Structure III now underway near the
Stadium, the campus has temporarily lost hundreds of parking
spots. Traffic on campus will be heavier and extend through
more of the day than in recent years. And the usual start-of-semester
traffic snarls promise to be much more intense.

Bulletin now delivered
by e-mail
Your Bulletin has gone electronic. In the interests
of reducing both costs and paper usage, your source for Sacramento
State news and information for faculty and staff will be delivered
to your e-mail in-box each Monday during the academic year.
Converting the Bulletin from a paper publication
to an e-mail will save the University about $35,000 per year.

New
campus leadership named
Jeffrey Mason has been named the new dean
of the College of Arts and Letters. The appointment, which
was made after a national search, will be effective Jan. 3,
2006.
Otis Scott has been named interim dean of
the College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies.
The one-year appointment became effective June 1 while Dean
Joseph Sheley is serving as the University’s interim
executive vice president.

Sacramento State employees may ride all Sacramento Regional
Transit (SacRT) transit services, including light rail,
by presenting a valid Sacramento State OneCard with
an employee transit pass. Passes are $10 and are valid
for six months (Jan. 1 to June 30 and July 1 to Dec.
31). They can be purchased at the Student Financial
Service Center in Lassen Hall or at the University Transportation
and Parking Services (UTAPS) office in Foley Hall.

President’s
fall address is Aug. 25
President Alexander Gonzalez will give his annual fall
address to the campus community on Thursday, Aug. 25 in the
University Union Ballroom. The event will begin with coffee
at 9 a.m. followed by the speech at 10 a.m. University staff
members who wish to attend should secure the permission of their
supervisors. |

Teacher —Jennifer Lundmark
Jennifer Lundmark puts heart and soul into her work. Not her
heart, but a frog’s heart to be precise. The Sacramento
State Biology professor regularly uses the amphibious creature’s
organ to give students a first-hand look at some of the complex,
yet simple, foundations of life.

‘CA Clay’ exhibit highlights state’s ceramicists
Sacramento State’s University Library Gallery will open
its fall 2005 season with “CA Clay,” an exhibit of
ceramic works by trend-setting, contemporary California artists.
The show starts Sept. 2 and runs through Nov. 12.
