New
Sacramento State logo to debut Sept. 1
Sacramento
State will unveil a bold new logo at a campus rally featuring
campus and community leaders, the University’s Marching
Band and Cheer Team, giveaways, free food, music and a few
surprises.
The event will be during first week of fall classes at noon,
Thursday, Sept. 1 in the University Union.
The new logo symbolizes Sacramento State’s role in the
Capital Region as a place of leadership, great teaching, opportunity
and pride. It also evokes the University’s vision of
becoming a “destination campus” through its ambitious
Destination 2010 initiative.
The logo unveiling begins in the University Union Ballroom
with the band and cheer team warming up the crowd. After the
logo is unveiled a host of students, staff and community members
will take the stage to show off new logo gear. That same group
will hand out logo merchandise before heading outdoors to
nearby Serna Plaza for a post-rollout party featuring music,
food and more giveaways.
The Hornet Bookstore, which is donating some of the t-shirts
to be given out at the event, will have logo gear available
for sale that afternoon.
The logo and accompanying graphics make up a new identity
package for the University that will be used to ensure that
Sacramento State print, web and other products have a consistent
look. That, in turn, will help the University better share
its success stories with the public, raise its visibility
and build support for its programs.
The logo and other marks were developed by Berkeley- and Honolulu-based
Osaki Design. In creating the new look, Osaki worked with
a campus committee made up of student, faculty, staff and
community representatives. The final identity package is based
on hundreds of pages of campus-generated research and documents,
as well as meetings with more than 300 students, alumni, faculty,
staff and community members.
Following the unveiling, the logo and accompanying graphics
will be available at www.csus.edu/pa/identity
