FIRST PHASE--Pamela Stewart, Alexander Gonzalez,
Holly Tiche, Terry Wanless, John Gesek and Bill Crockett
were joined by community leaders, alums and athletes
on Thursday Aug. 24 as the University took a major step
for its athletics program—the groundbreaking for
the Broad Athletic Facility. The 26,000 square-foot
field house is the first component of the multi-faceted
Alex G. Spanos Sports and Recreation Complex.

fall address set
President Alexander Gonzalez will give his annual fall address
to the campus community on Thursday, Aug. 31 in the University
Union Ballroom. The event will begin with coffee at 9 a.m. followed
by the talk at 10 a.m. |

Sacramento
State employees may ride all Sacramento Regional
Transit fixed-route transit services, including
Light Rail, by presenting a valid Sacramento State
OneCard with an employee transit pass. Passes
are $10 and are valid for six months (Jan. 1 to
June 30 and July 1 to Dec. 31). They can be purchased
at the Student Financial Service Center in Lassen
Hall or at the University Transportation and Parking
Services (UTAPS) office in Foley Hall.

work of Robert Therrien, an accomplished California artist
who transforms everyday objects into striking artwork, will
be on display at the University Library Gallery at Sacramento
State from Sept. 5 to Nov. 11.

Hornet
fans can fly to games
The Sacramento State athletics department has created two
travel packages for fans traveling to the games at Boise
State and Montana. For $300 per trip, an individual will
receive a seat on the team’s chartered airplane as
well as a ticket to the game.
