WASC reaffirms University’s accreditation
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) reaffirmed the accreditation of Sacramento State in June.
WASC is the regional higher education association that, through its Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities, is responsible for the accreditation of several higher education institutions in the Western United States. Accreditation is used to define and evaluate the quality of an institution’s programs. Only accredited institutions are eligible to receive federal funding, including financial aid and grants.
In its report, the WASC team noted that Sacramento State’s “staff and faculty have demonstrated a considerable effort, an expert knowledge, a spirit of cooperation among themselves, a willingness to sustain a culture of evidence and an unflagging commitment to the institution’s students. Nothing short of a remarkable cultural shift has occurred at Sacramento State towards best practices in transparency and collaborative governance.”
