Division of Social Work receives accreditation
The Council on Social Work Education has reaffirmed the accreditation of Sacramento State’s Division of Social Work through 2017. The council is recognized as the nation’s sole accrediting agency for social work education.
The Division offers an undergraduate and graduate degree program that supports the development and delivery of services that contribute to human well-being and social justice, says Robin Carter, Social Work Division director. About 200 students graduate from the Division’s programs each year.
“Accreditation is important because it provides assurance of quality and adherence to academic standards,” she says. “It is one important way in which potential students can evaluate the quality of a program when they make their college choice.”
She says accreditation is also important for the acceptance and transfer of college credit between social work programs and is a prerequisite for all social work graduate programs.
“This significant accomplishment is the result of the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, students and community partners and would not have been possible without each group’s unique contribution,” she says. |
