Roger Sullivan, Anthropology, co-authored several presentations at the Human Behavior and Evolution Society annual meeting at CSU Fullerton in June, co-authored a communication published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences titled, “The Dopamine Puzzle,” and had a co-authored book chapter accepted for publication in a Springer volume titled, “Evolutionary Psychology and Information Systems Research: A New Approach to Studying the Effects of Modern Technologies on Human Behavior.”
The Widow's War, the 12th novel by Mary Mackey, English, has been published by Berkley Books, a division of the Penguin Publishing Group. She appeared on “Good Day Sacramento” (CW31) Sept. 3 to discuss her research on the Civil War and the Afro-Brazilian religion Camdomble, both major themes in The Widow's War. She also gave a reading from the novel at Time Tested Books in Sacramento.
Charles Martell, dean and university librarian emeritus, has been selected as a Fulbright Specialist Candidate (2009-2014). Martell also has published, “A citation analysis of College and Research Libraries comparing Yahoo, Google, Google Scholar and ISI World of Knowledge with implications for promotion and tenure,” College & Research Libraries (Sept. 2009); “Browsing through daily life in a neighborhood library,” Public Library Quarterly 28:2 (June 2009): 234-241; a guest editorial “Access: The social dimension of a new paradigm for academic librarianship,” Journal of Academic Librarianship 35:3 (May 2009); and the forthcoming “Hanging tough at our neighborhood libraries,” Public Library Quarterly 28:4 (Winter 2009).
Tom Knutson, Communication Studies, recently returned from Thailand where he met and counseled with Sacramento State students working at the Chitralada Royal Palace School. He also delivered lectures at Ramkhamhaeng University, Bangkok University, and Sukhothai Tammitirat Open University. His new book, Elephants and Eagles: Why Thais and Americans Communicate Differently, is scheduled for completion in December. Rosechongporn Komolsevin, director of the Communication doctoral program at Bangkok University and Phan Datthuyawat, a recent Sacramento State master’s graduate, are the co-authors.
