Sacramento State will officially dedicate the University’s new Hornet Bookstore at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12, but the store is already a best seller.
The 53,000 square-foot store opened July 30, replacing the former 28,000 square-foot facility. It features a Java City coffee house and plenty of chairs and tables giving students room to study or peruse a book or magazine. Students will find just about everything they need for class, from paint brushes to stethoscopes, along with mugs, glasses, T-shirts, caps, and sweatshirts.
The dedication ceremony will include a ceremonial ribbon cutting and a presentation and book signing by Brendon Burchard, author of Life’s a Golden Ticket and The Student Leadership Guide. Officials scheduled to address the crowd include University President Alexander Gonzalez; Matt Altier, executive director and CEO of University Enterprises, Inc. and vice president for real property and new business development; and Tom Christopher, president of Follett Higher Education, the shop’s operator. There will also be a barbecue and live music by Minus Halo, a rock, alternative, metal band.
