Staff Employee Recognition Program recipients named

President Gonzalez has named the recipients for this quarter’s Staff Employee Recognition Program. They are: Lillie Jones, University Library; Norma Sanchez, University Union; and Andrea Shea, University Computing and Communication Services.

Jones has worked in the University Library since 1974 and has seen four different administrations through the years. Her nominator stated, "By assisting the new administrators in performing their role as the chief administrative officers of the Library, she has played a dynamic role in supporting the Library’s mission and goals." Jones has also served on countless advisory, search, and welcoming committees. In a message to the campus community, President Gonzalez says that her dedication and loyalty to the University is remarkable, and her positive impact on the campus community will be felt for years to come.

Sanchez works in the University Union and is responsible for the customer assistance at the Information Desk, Games Room, Music Listening Lounge and Gallery. Her nominator indicated that the service she and her employees provide at the Information Desk is similar to "a concierge at a world-class hotel." She displays a "unique sense of professionalism" and has organized her student assistants to be a team that provides the best customer service possible.

Shea is an information technology consultant in University Computing & Communications Services. She was commended for helping countless faculty and students with her work as a WebCT consultant and online specialist. Her patience and consideration for those she is training, as well as her easy-to-follow instructions, have made it easy for many people to become computer literate. Her nominator stated, "Thanks to her consistent assistance and collaboration, I have become a competent teaching professional of technology."
