Sacramento
State to co-host
gubernatorial candidate debate
Sacramento
State will join the California Broadcasters Association (CBA) to host a live
statewide debate between Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and State Treasurer Phil
Angelides. The one-hour event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 6 to
7 p.m. on campus.
The format will
include one moderator, Stan Statham, President/CEO of the CBA and the two candidates
who will be seated at tables on either side of the moderator. There will be
no opening or closing statements. Registered voters will be asked to suggest
questions and those questions will be asked by the moderator. The questions
will be designed to initiate a conversation between the two candidates. In lieu
of closing statements, each candidate will be allowed to ask one question of
the other for discussion.
The debate will
be available by satellite to all California radio and television stations, and
will include simultaneous Spanish translation and closed captioning. CBA and
Sacramento State also co-hosted the recall debate in 2003.
