Green and Gold Gala Ticket Information
Tickets are on sale for the Sacramento State Green and Gold Gala, celebrating the University’s 60th year and honoring philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad. Tickets are available at www.csus.edu/gala/ or 278-7043.

Regulatory Compliance Training E-mail Notifications
On Tuesday, Sept. 26, Risk Management Services will be launching an automated e-mail process that will serve to remind employees/supervisors of their mandatory compliance training obligations. The automated process will repeat thereafter on a cycle of every 45 days.

Based on PeopleSoft/CMS employee reporting hierarchies, and LearnerWeb Learning Track assignments, a “Supervisor’s…” report will be generated and distributed to all supervisors informing them of subordinate training compliance progress (direct reports only). A second, “Employee’s…” report will be generated and sent directly to each employee informing them of their Learning Track (i.e., mandatory training) progress.

UEI Receives Food Safety Award
University Enterprises, Inc. received an Award in Food Excellence from the Sacramento County Environmental Management Department. The award was presented to UEI for its excellent inspection history and specifically for receiving no major food handling violations during the period of July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2006.

The criteria and a complete list of award recipients are posted on the county’s website at www.emd.SacCounty.net.

Time Management/Study Skills Workshops
The Academic Advising Center will be presenting Time Management/Study Skills workshops this semester. The workshops are open to all students; no pre-registration is necessary.

All Time Management/Study Skills Workshops will be held in Lassen Hall 3011 on the following dates and times:

Monday, Sept. 25, noon - 1 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 5, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Monday, Oct. 23, 3 - 4 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 31, 11 a.m. - noon
Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2 - 3 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 16, noon – 1 p.m.

Brown Bag Seminar
Faculty, staff and the community are invited to a brown bag seminar on Friday, Sept. 29, from noon to 2 p.m. in Eureka Hall 213. The seminar, “Brasil (with an S!): Ethnomathematics, Mathematical Modeling and School Outreach in Brasil,” will be presented by Daniel Orey, professor of teacher education. Prof. Orey will share some of his work while he lived abroad this past year in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, Brasil. His talk will include:

• The Ouro Preto Math Trail
• Work with Intel, Wimax and Intel and outreach for public schools
• The future goals for CELB (The Center for Luso-Brazilian Studies/O Centro para Estudos Luso-Brasileiros) at Sacramento State

Prof. Orey will also outline possible opportunities presented at Sacramento State for those who might be thinking of visiting, working, and traveling to South America.

Foster Youth Education Fund Fashion Show
The Foster Youth Education Fund will hold a fashion show on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. in the University Union Ballroom. The show will feature Sacramento area foster youths as models. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Guardian Scholars Program at Sacramento State, a comprehensive program of financial aid, life coaching, mentoring, housing and other services for foster youths enrolled at the University.

Tickets are $25 each and are available by calling 944-4935. Information on the Guardian Scholars Program is available at 278-3643.
