Sacramento State is preparing for its football home opener at 6:05 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 against Eastern Washington.

The Hornets finished last season with a 6-6 overall record, including a 29-19 win over UC Davis in the Causeway Classic. It was their most successful season in nearly a decade.

The team returns 14 starters, including six who earned all-Big Sky Conference honors. That group includes quarterback Jason Smith who heads into the season as the starter for the third consecutive season.

Season tickets for Hornet football are on sale for as low as $50. Faculty and staff members can purchase season tickets for $50 in the reserve section (215) of Hornet Stadium. To purchase season tickets, call T-Ante Sims at 278-2222, or visit www.hornetsports.com/assets/sports/football/2009FootballBrochure.pdf. Single game tickets can be purchased by calling 278-4323 or by visiting the central Ticket Office in the Student Union.

The team opened the season with tough loses against non-conference foes UNLV and 12th ranked Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. This is the first conference game of the season.
