Sacramento State to host clean tech showcase
Sacramento State will host the Sacramento Clean Tech Showcase, 10 a.m-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, in the University Union.
Sacramento State is partnering with the Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance (SARTA) and CleanStart to showcase companies specializing in the design and manufacture of clean technology, devices and equipment.
“This showcase helps connect businesses looking to incorporate green practices with start-up companies producing new green technology,” says Emir Jose Macari, dean of Sacramento State’s College of Engineering and Computer Science.
Last year’s Clean Energy Expo drew about 500 people, and Macari expects a comparable number this year. “These are tough economic times and companies realize it is even more important to invest in clean energy and energy-saving technologies,” he says.
More than 100 companies are expected to display their products at the showcase. One will be selected as Best in Show and one as runner-up, both for cash prizes. In addition, 15 companies will give presentations of their future plans. The recently formed California Smart Grid Center at Sacramento State will be one of the featured new programs this year.
The expo, now in its third year, is open to the public. To register, visit www.amplifyllc.com/in-tel/ListOfEvents.cfm?ID=CLNS. For more information on the smart grid, visit www.CASmartGridCenter.csus.edu
