Area of expertise: Organizational behavior, with a focus on emotions in the workplace. My current research interests revolve around understanding the role of emotions in organizational life. It focuses on such topics as emotional climate and fit, emotions and decision making, emotions and communication and discrete emotions such as anger and loneliness.
Educational background: I received my Ph.D. in organizational behavior from the University of British Columbia, Canada. I hold a double-major degree in management and political science and an MBA from Bosphorus University, Turkey.
What’s on your mp3 player: The Big Band Orchestra, World Playground Music and Grease.
Favorite book (or last read): One Hundred Years of Solitude, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, because it depicts a fantastic harmony between reality and imagination.
Favorite city to visit: San Francisco, because it is such a vibrant and beautiful city.
Who most influenced you to become a teacher: My professors at the Bosphorus University in Istanbul, Turkey and my family because they have provided me with a lot of encouragement and inspiration about my academic career.
