DNA testing in Tanzania topic of STEM lecture

Since 2001, Sacramento State biology professor Ruth Ballard has been helping the Tanzanian government develop DNA testing capabilities to help solve crimes and settle paternity issues.

She will discuss her project when Sacramento State kicks off its annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) lecture series at 7 p.m., Sept. 23, in the University Union’s Redwood Room.

STEM sponsors four lectures each academic year. All lectures are held on campus and are free.
