Marilyn Hopkins, dean of Sacramento State’s College of Health and Human Services, will leave the University in November to become the provost and chief operating officer for Touro University in Vallejo, Calif.

Hopkins has been dean of the college since 2000. She was the college’s associate dean for three years and spent 23 years as a Sacramento State faculty member. She is a licensed registered nurse and has a doctorate in Nursing Science from the University of California, San Francisco.

The University will begin a search for an interim dean in early October, says Sacramento State Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Joseph Sheley.

Touro University California is a graduate education institution focusing on health careers and teacher preparation programs. Established in 1997, it is one of many campuses within Touro College, a Jewish sponsored not-for-profit educational system anchored in New York.
