One Book author visits campus Monday

Author Julie Otsuka visits Sacramento State Monday, Oct. 5 as part of the University’s One Book program.
Otsuka is the author of When the Emperor Was Divine, this year’s One Book offering. The book covers the journeys of a Japanese-American family through an internment camp established during World War II.
At 10 a.m. Otsuka will hold a question and answer session for Sacramento State students. A book signing will follow.
At noon Otsuka will join a panel with Professors Wayne Maeda and Dan Okada, Vice President for Advancement Carole Hayashino and two Sacramento State students who will describe their personal stake in the Japanese American internment story.
At 7 p.m., Otsuka will give a community lecture. A book signing will follow. Books can be purchased on site at the event or in advance through the Hornet Bookstore.
All events are in the University Union Ballroom. The events are free and open to the campus community.
