Sacramento State’s Center for Practical and Professional Ethics is set to host its 3rd annual Fall Ethics Symposium at 8:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 20, in the Hinde Auditorium, University Union. Personal and professional integrity in business is the topic for this year’s symposium. An all day event, the symposium begins with a reception in the Redwood Room and is followed by opening remarks, a keynote address and several roundtable discussions.
“Primarily we expect students from Sacramento State and Cosumnes River College. But we want members of the community to attend as well,” says Christina Bellon, director of Sacramento State’s Center for Practical and Professional Ethics. Bellon expects more people because of the timely topic but says she wants everyone to participate.
Clarifying the purpose of the symposium Bellon explains that, “we’re not here to answer policy questions. Our event is a sustained meditation and discussion on professional and personal integrity… It’s no good to talk about regulations if we don’t understand the ethical dimensions of our choices before we make decisions.”
