Gonzalez named to Student Aid Commission
President Alexander Gonzalez
University President Alexander Gonzalez has been appointed to the California Student Aid Commission by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The commission’s charge is “making education beyond high school financially accessible to all Californians,” and it manages financial aid initiatives such as the Cal Grant program. Gonzalez’ appointment, which requires Senate confirmation, runs through October 2012.
“Serving on the California Student Aid Commission is a tremendous honor,” Gonzalez says. “I am devoted to ensuring greater opportunities for the students of our state and helping every qualified individual to attend college.”
Gonzalez has served as a professor and administrator in the California State University system for more than 30 years.
“I have seen thousands of students achieve their dreams through higher education, and I look forward to working with the commission so future generations can go to college and make positive contributions to California’s culture and economy,” Gonzalez says.
