Scholarship

Jay Crain
, Anthropology, and Vicki Pearson-Rounds, Research Administration, together with Ricky Ganang of Sabah, Malaysia, have had their Kemaloh Lundayeh-English Dictionary published by the Borneo Research Council.

Gloria Solomon,
Kinesiology and Health Science, has had three manuscripts published this year: “The assessment of athletic ability in intercollegiate sport: Instrument construction and validation,” in the International Journal of Sports Science Coaching, “Expectations and perceptions as predictors of coaches’ feedback in three competitive contexts,” in the Journal for the Study of Sports and Athletics in Education, 2, pp. 161-179, and, “Sources of expectancy information among college coaches: A qualitative test of expectancy theory,” in the International Journal of Sports Science and Coaching, 3, pp. 251-268.

Rachel Clarke,
Art, and Art alumnus Michael Azevedo have collaborated on "Somnuim Redux," a new media interactive installation by Rachel Clarke with audio composition and design by Michael Azevedo, at the Block Gallery on 1020 10th Street in Sacramento, Oct. 11 - 26.

Daryl Parker,
Kinesiology and Health Science, and two former graduate assistants had an article published in Medicine and Science in Sport and Exercise, the official journal of the American College of Sports Medicine, titled, “Mt. Whitney; Determinants of Summit Success and Acute Mountain Sickness.”

Lisa Hammersley
, Geology, presented two talks on her research at the Geological Society of America's annual meeting in Houston October 5-9.

Jim Hernandez
, Criminal Justice, was an invited speaker at the California Public Defenders Association seminar. The seminar
on street gangs took place in Monterey on Oct. 11.

Stephanie Antalocy
, English, was interviewed on KCBS radio and CBS Channel 5 (Bay Area) the week of Oct. 6, about the award-winning leader of Friends of Five Creeks.  On the Board of Directors of the East Bay creek restoration group, she was also videographer and editor of the documentaries "Restoring Cerrito Creek" and "Cerrito Creek Walks" shown on cable channels 28 and 33 in 2007-08.
