Village plans taking shape

NEW DIGS—The University enterprises Development
Group has completed a preliminary concept drawing for
the planned University Village near campus. Campus input
is being sought on the initial plan which calls for a
mix of apartments, condominiums or townhouses, and single-family
homes along with restaurants, shops, a community center,
pool and more. To weigh in, take
the survey by Nov. 4. |
Leadership
gifts add sparkle to Green and Gold Gala
Among
the highlights of Sacramento State’s inaugural Green
and Gold last Thursday was the announcement of several major
gifts totaling more than $3 million dollars to support the
University.

Professor:
Clichés provide helping hand in language
They
are tried and true, but they deliver the goods. They’re
clichés and people talk in clichés and write
in clichés far more than we realize. But that is OK,
says a Sacramento State linguistics professor. He believes
that those overused expressions play a valuable role in everyday
language and provide insight into how the mind works.

Teacher — Robert Jensen
Robert Jensen is the kind of teacher that students like to recommend
to their friends. The recipient of the College of Social Sciences
and Interdisciplinary Studies 2004-2005 Outstanding Teaching Award
has an uncomplicated approach to education, which is acknowledged
by his students as well as his fellow professors.

Guerilla gorillas bring feminist fight to campus
Don’t be offended when a bunch of gorillas take the stage
at Sacramento State and start flinging the “F” word
around. The gorillas are actually women in costume and the word
they’ll be using is “feminism.” The highly traveled
and popular Guerilla Girls will appear at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday,
Nov. 17 in the University Union Ballroom.

Storms
to hit court after earning scholarship
Junior forward Ashley Storms, who walked on to the women’s
basketball team during the 2004-05 season, has earned a scholarship
for the upcoming 2005-06 year, it was announced by head coach Dan
Muscatell today.
