Oscar
award-winning director and screenwriter Oliver Stone will provide his singular
insight on the world of filmmaking at a lecture at Sacramento State on Wednesday,
Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the University Union Ballroom.
Stone, a renowned and sometimes controversial director, has created a wide array
of movies exploring topics ranging from the assassination of John F. Kennedy
to the complex world of the stock market. His directing credits include JFK,
Wall Street, Nixon, The Doors, Any Given Sunday, Heaven and Earth, Salvador,
Natural Born Killers and, most recently, World Trade Center. Stone
also wrote screenplays for the movies Scarface, Year of the Dragon
and Conan the Barbarian. In addition, he won Academy Awards as Best
Director for Platoon and Born on the 4th of July as well as
a screenwriting award for Midnight Express.
The event is sponsored by Sacramento State's University Union UNIQUE Programs.
