This year's John C. Livingston Lecture, delivered by Sacramento State Professor Cristy Jensen, is available as a downloadable file and a podcast.

Jensen delivered the lecture, titled, “Faculty as Academic Leaders: Our Students Are Counting on Us (Whether They Know It or Not)” on Oct. 30. The lecture focused on faculty’s responsibility to set curriculum, despite attempts by industry, think tanks and government to usurp that responsibility.

Jensen is a professor of public Policy and administration and the recipient of the 2007 John C. Livingston Award. By tradition, the recipient of the award presents a speech to faculty members.

The award, organized by the Faculty Senate, recognizes a faculty member who has played an active role in the life of the University and has shown strong commitment to students while remaining active in creative and scholarly work.

To download the lecture, visit http://media1.csus.edu:8080/ramgen/prj/sp/livingston_10_30_07.rm.

A podcast of the lecture is available on the University iTunes account. Go to http://itunes.csus.edu/, click on “Browse Sac State on iTunes U,” and click on “Campus Events.” The lecture is about 50 minutes long.
