for campus parking woes. But for the time being the 800
spaces it displaced are part of the problem. |
Congressional
funds add up to $1.5 million boost for center
Sacramento
State's plans for a Science and Space Center came one step
closer to fruition with last Wednesday's announcement of a
$950,000 federal appropriation for the facility. The proposed
$8 million center will contain an observatory, planetarium,
hands-on science exploration areas and laboratories for student
interested in astronomy research.

State President Alexander Gonzalez has been named one of the
100 most influential Hispanic leaders in America by Hispanic
Business magazine.

Sacramento
State was among 60 area employers named as a Best Workplace
for Commuters by the Federal Environmental Protection
Agency in 2005. The award recognized extraordinary efforts
to improve the quality of life in the region, reduce
area traffic and protect the environment by making it
possible for employees to use good commuting practices.
Sacramento
State was singled out for the Hornet Express Shuttle
service and Sacramento Regional Transit bus pass subsidy
and for offering a Guaranteed Ride Home program through
the Sacramento Transportation Management Association.
It was also recognized for being located near bus and
light rail routes and having accommodations for bicyclists,
as well as having preferential carpool parking. For

to host Big Sky Volleyball
With a week left in the regular season, the Sacramento State volleyball
squad has already clinched its ninth-consecutive Big Sky Conference
championship and the right to host the league's postseason tournament
on Nov. 17-19. A special $5 ticket price is available to faculty,
staff and students with a valid One Card.
