Sacramento State participates in blood donor challenge
Sacramento State won the big game against UC Davis Nov. 7 and scored big in the accompanying blood donor competition sponsored by Sacramento BloodSource blood center. During the two-week competition, the campus community donated 970 units of blood. UC Davis donated 1301 units but it was a win-win situation for BloodSource and the schools.
Sacramento State more than tripled the total number of participants from what had been collected previously, according to Sacramento BloodSource. In all, Sacramento State registered 1,217 donors including 628 new donors.
The blood drive competition ran Oct. 20-Nov. 7 with BloodSource setting up mobile units in the University Union and the residence halls. Donors included faculty, staff, students and administration.
