Clery Act information
In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, crime statistics for Sacramento State are available at http://www.csus.edu/police/cleryact.stm.
The statistics include crimes reported on campus over the last three years. Crimes reported on off-campus property owned or controlled by Sacramento State, or on property adjacent to or accessible from campus are also included.
In addition, the report includes information on campus security policies, crime prevention, crime reporting and other safety matters. Print copies are available in the library or from the public safety or student affairs offices. For more information, call 278-6851.

In accordance with the provisions of the California Health and Safety Code, this announcement serves as the official annual notification to all employees that an asbestos survey has been completed and the report confirms the presence of asbestos-containing building materials in several buildings on campus.
The presence of asbestos in building materials does not present a health hazard. However, if disturbed, asbestos-containing materials can release fibers. Exposure to asbestos may result in asbestos-related diseases, including cancer. All employees are required to contact Facilities Services for approval prior to beginning work that would disturb building construction materials in any campus buildings or locations. This includes any type of construction, alterations, and/or improvements to a building, such as drilling or cutting into walls or ceilings, disturbing floor tiles or finishes or disturbing insulating materials or fireproofing.

The President's Office is pleased to announce that Sacramento State is continuing the Staff Employee Recognition Program. The benefits of being honored by the Staff Employee Recognition Program includes a reserved parking space for the quarter in one of several lots of the employee's choice, a congratulatory letter from the President, an award certificate and an article with a photograph on the University's website.

Women’s Studies exhibit
Vicki Hall and Sujatha Moni, both faculty in the Women's Studies department, installed an exhibit for Women's Studies Month on the second floor of the University Library. The exhibit focuses on women and violence as well as on images of the Feminine Divine. The exhibition runs through Thursday, Jan. 31. For more information, call 278-6806.

Parking Fee Increase
Pursuant to an agreement negotiated between California State University Employees Union, CSUEU, and the California State University, parking fees for employees in bargaining Units 2, 5, 7 and 9 have been increased. The new parking permit fees for staff in Units 2, 5, 7 and 9 have been increased by 3.457 percent from $14.56 per month to $15.06 per month.
For university employees using payroll deduction, the increase will be automatically deducted through your payroll deduction. There is no action required on your part. The parking fee increase should be reflected in the Jan. 31 paycheck. All non-payroll deducted parking permits will be sold at the new rate effective Jan. 14. The Research and Data Analysis Webcast series has five more sessions this semester. The series was established to provide University faculty and gradate students with advanced training in research methods and data analysis.
Measurement Invariance and Applied Research will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 29. Three sessions will be held Friday, March 21: Restriction of Range from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Discontinuous Growth Models from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and Strategy and Research Methods from noon to 1:30 p.m. Publishing Criteria for Qualitative Research will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Friday, April 18. Faculty Assessment Coordinator
Professor Terry Underwood, Department of Teacher Education, has been appointed the faculty assessment coordinator starting spring semester of 2008. This appointment is based on the recommendation from the Selection Advisory Committee and approved by Provost Joseph Sheley.
Underwood has an extensive knowledge base and practice in student learning outcome assessment. He has been a leader in the College of Education's assessment planning efforts, and has engaged in state and national assessment initiatives. As faculty assessment coordinator he will work directly with deans, department chairs, program coordinators and faculty to facilitate the development of assessment strategies and tools that could offer promise of instructional and programmatic improvement.

New director selected
Charlene Martinez has been selected as the new director of the Multi-Cultural Center and will begin work Jan. 30. Martinez most recently served as the assistant director of Student Activities at Mills College. Prior to that she was the assistant director of the Cross-Cultural Center at the University of California, San Diego. A welcome reception is being scheduled for early February.

On Monday, Jan. 21, construction will begin to replace the 45+ year old irrigation system that waters the turf grass in the main quad. Additionally, the main quad will also be replanted in an attempt to preserve this most valued campus open space. It is expected that the project will take 60 days to complete, weather pending.

Sacramento State employees may voluntarily donate to other employees up to a maximum of 16 hours of sick or vacation leave credits each fiscal year in one-hour increments. CSUEU, MPP, Unit 4, Unit 6 and confidential employees may donate up to a maximum of 40 hours per fiscal year.
